Bioinstrumentation

The Bioinstrumentation Resource Center provides engineering and technical staff in support of the medical center community. Services include the design and fabrication of mechanical and electronic instrumentation and equipment, the development of laboratory automation and data-acquisition systems, and consultation on the specification and application of laboratory instrumentation. This service center also provides a resource for the calibration, testing, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment. Microcomputer interfacing for clinical and laboratory data acquisition is a service offered by the Center.

Mission:

The Bioinstrumentation Resource Center supports the research, teaching, and other activities of the University and Medical Center by:

  • Providing capable and economical maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
  • Providing consultation, design, and fabrication for instrumentation and laboratory automation needs.
  • Providing support for computer hardware and software interfacing to instruments for laboratory automation and experimental data collection.
  • Serving as a center of expertise and exchange of information on instrumentation technology, materials, and bioengineering applications.
  • Supporting the mission, goals, policies, and regulations of the University, State, Public, and research community by maintaining a high level of awareness and commitment to the goals of the wider society which the Center serves
